Sustainia 100 and Awards, Denmark

Sustainia100 is an annual guide to 100 innovative solutions from around the world that presents readily available projects, initiatives and technologies at the forefront of sustainable transformation. The solutions in our 2013 edition of Sustainia100 are deployed in two thirds of the world’s countries – including Kenya, India, Mexico and South Africa, making the Sustainia100 guide reflect innovation from the traditional western hubs as well as parts of the world that are normally not well covered. Sustainia100 presents sustainable solutions in 10 key sectors, spanning from energy, transportation to fashion, food and education. Sustainia100 gives investors, regional developers, business leaders, politicians, and consumers in-depth insights to the most promising projects and technologies within their field. From our list of 100 sustainable solutions, Sustainia100, an award committee led by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger reviews and selects a winner to be announced at the grand Sustainia Award Ceremony in Copenhagen every autumn. Finalists in the Australian Technologies Competition are fast tracked for assessment for the Sustainia 100.

Companies compete in 10 categories, including solar, wind, water, energy efficiency and more. The judges of the later stage award have invested over $3.5 billion into cleantech globally. The Later Stage Award seeks to not only highlight out the most promising new technologies, but lay the groundwork for those yet to come. Therefore to win, companies must be nominated by a GCCA member cluster. This process bolsters cluster organizations with successful companies and ensures the benefits bestowed on the winners trickle down to others within their member cluster.Ten of the Semi Finalists are nominated each year to be the Australian competitors in the GCCA's Late Stage Awards.
